
If you like painting and texturing, you really need to give it a serious look. The greatest thing about Substance Painter is how it seamlessly paints across the UV map. You can paint either on the 3D model or the 2D map, but in both cases you're actually painting on the underlying 3D model. So it's not like using Photoshop where you have to struggle to get the UV seams to match up correctly. Another great feature is how it can use various masks, like an Ambient Occlusion mask make it easy to paint dirt into the crevices, a Curvature Map to apply chips and wear on corners, or a World Normal map to sprinkle dust on upward-facing surfaces. And don't forget about the ability of using the sliders to adjust things like rust, wear, dust, oil streaks, and stuff like that is just so fun. Neither of those tools does any modeling, though.
